I am a dual-qualified, multi-lingual lawyer who grew up in London, England. After attending Cambridge University, I qualified as an English lawyer, then practiced international capital markets law in Rome, Italy. While interning for Goldman Sachs in Paris during my undergraduate degree in modern languages, I met my Fort Worth-native husband.
While I honed many valuable skills as a capital markets lawyer, I discovered that helping colleagues and clients were where my job satisfaction derived, not the headline numbers of a business transaction.
After a career break: moving countries and then continents; having two children; and learning a new language (Spanish), I returned to work as corporate secretary of the US division of one of the world’s largest distributors of electronic components, managing the corporate governance affairs of its North American subsidiaries. Frustrated at not being able to practice law, use my languages, or have people at the center of my work, after two years I returned to law school, this time in the US.
I loved studying for my Master’s in Law at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. It was at SMU that I discovered my interest in family law, seeing its potential for combining my love of law with my passion for helping people, especially during critical times in their lives.
Since passing the Texas Bar Exam and practicing traditional family law in Southlake, Dallas, and Fort Worth, I have sought a more holistic approach to resolving family law disputes: collaborative law. As a former transactional lawyer, where the goal was always to protect my client’s interests but to “get the deal done” in as amicable a way as possible, collaborative law speaks naturally to me. Collaborative law in Texas provides a forum where parties can negotiate with respect, and craft the best possible outcome for themselves and, where applicable, their children.
For those of you with international family law issues, I have established connections with leading family lawyers in Europe, ensuring I can offer a streamlined service.
Although I maintain my global outlook, Tarrant County has been my home for the past fifteen years and I am glad to serve all members of the community.
Having lost a parent at thirteen, I needed grit and determination to achieve my goals, and a resilience and tenacity that I bring to supporting my clients. I offer steady support, guidance, and empathy to those experiencing some of the darkest times in their lives. If you hire me, you will find a dedicated ally. I am committed to guiding you through your legal issue with compassion and integrity. I will take the time to understand your goals, and work to help you achieve a resolution that aligns with your values and needs.
